Although most of the Ports we see in supermarkets are of mediocre quality, there are many good Ports that are highly prized and cost hundreds of dollars. Let's hurry up with this fascinating, historic sweet red wine. There are several styles of port, but the two main styles of port include red port with more berry and chocolate flavors (and a little less sweetness) and brown port with more caramel and nut flavors and more sweetness. Older, finer Tawny Ports have an even wider range of subtle flavors, including graphite, green pepper, hazelnut, almond, butterscotch and graham cracker. For this level of sophistication, look for wines aged 30 years or more!
