ABOUT THE WINNER: The Gjerkeš vineyard is located in the Goričko Landscape Park, in the village of Fikšinci. The old homestead has stood on the Gjerkeš estate since 1925. The estate produces wines of the varieties Laški Riesling, Rhenish Riesling, Chardonnay, Yellow Muscat and Pinot Gris. They adhere to the principles of integrated cultivation when growing vines. This method of cultivation is kinder to nature, as it minimizes the number of phytopharmaceutical and biotechnical measures. The exceptional terroir of their estate, which is located between two inactive volcanoes, the nature-friendly cultivation of the vineyards and the meticulous work in the cellar, give their wines a special stamp. Their clear vision is to focus on achieving optimal ripeness with flawlessly healthy grapes that are picked and sorted by hand.
