Ardbeg Corryvreckan The Ultimate Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. No cold filtration. Turbulent. Peppery. Dark fruit. North of Islay and Jura is the second largest whirlpool in the world, Corryvreckan. This roaring, seething cauldron is named after the Viking prince Breacan, who is said to have drowned there. This is the legend of Corryvreckan, but not as you have heard it before. Breacan fell in love with an island princess, the daughter of the lord of the islands. To prove his devotion, the brave suitor was challenged to spend three nights in Calleach's whirlpool. He sailed into a dangerous eddy, but the three ropes he was carrying to anchor the vessel broke. And so, legend has it, Breacan perished beneath the whirlpool that now bears his name, Corryvreckan. But it's not like that! For Cailleach Bheare, the ancient goddess who guards the whirlpool, chose life for the prince and took him to her water lair where he slept. Now he's giving it back to us. What shape will it take? Ardbeg Corryvreckan is a heady, intense and powerful expression. Swirling aromas and torrents of deep, peaty, peppery tasset lurk beneath the surface of this beautifully balanced drink. The epitome of Ardbeg.
