CHARACTERISTICS: a modern expression of Istrian Refošk with an intense ruby ​​color. The aroma is dominated by ripe dark berries, cherries and subtle spicy notes. In the mouth, the wine is medium-bodied, with pleasant freshness, soft tannins and a fruity character. It goes well with pasta, grilled dishes and mature cheese.

ABOUT THE WINEMAKER: wine is the fruit of a thousand-year connection between man and nature. Although each generation understands the vine better, we still depend on luck every autumn, because there is no good wine without the sun. At a 110 m altitude difference and in the corner between Koper and Trieste, in the idyllic Istrian village of Plavje, they cultivate 12 hectares of vineyards. The location offers excellent weather conditions for cultivating famous varieties: Malvasia, Chardonnay, Modri ​​Pinot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and the indigenous Refošk.

The first morning sun, a constant gentle sea breeze, pleasant afternoon warmth and cool night temperatures create ideal conditions for the ripening of grapes on poor marl soils. The density of planting, the cultivation of one vine and the selection of grapes are expressed in the wines as elegance, freshness and tenderness of taste. Modern cellaring, based on the tradition of typifying different vineyard plots in constant connection with wooden barrels and stages of ripening, transforms the given vintages into a family story and Klenart wines.
