Masso Antico Primitivo Ice wine
Origin: Italy
Year: 2023
CHARACTERISTICS: Masso Antico Primitivo Ice. Dry wine, strawberry and cherry, some prunes, nice finish. Food recommendation: Ideal with pasta or gnocchi, Parma prosciutto and grilled meat. Primitivo, one of the most popular red wines from Apulia (southern Italy), has been given a completely new interpretation. How does this work? For this purpose, the grapes are picked a little earlier and the time on the mash is shorter to prevent excessive extraction of tannins. At the same time, fermentation takes place at a low temperature. The result is a red wine with a pleasant red-fruit flavor, a soft tannic structure and a long-lasting taste. When is Primitivo ICE cool? The bottle is equipped with a temperature-sensitive label, which turns blue at the optimal drinking temperature (8-10 °C). You do this by placing the wine in the fridge (approx. 2 hours) and the color indicates when it is time to enjoy.
ABOUT THE WINEMAKER: Winemakers Daniele Ress and Carlo Filippi follow the entire production with passion. Thanks to extensive knowledge of the many terroirs and climates throughout the country, Masso Antico wines are an excellent reflection of the land in which they are produced. Masso Antico wines are produced by the Italian Schenk cellars, which were founded in 1952 and are among the leading producers and exporters of Italian wines. Two winemakers, five oenologists and highly qualified staff take care of the entire production process. A long-term partnership with a number of carefully selected grape growers throughout Puglia means that the best fruit is selected to make Masso Antico wines.
