Ferjančič Pinela wine
ORIGIN: Slovenia
CHARACTERISTICS: Hand torn. A mountain pet. In 1844, Matija Vertovec mentions it among noble varieties in his book Vinoreja za Slovenes. The wine has a lively greenish-yellow color with a pronounced varietal flower reminiscent of citrus fruits and dried flowers. The taste of the wine is delicate but rich and pleasantly fresh. Goes well with grilled fish dishes, pasta. Sugar: Dry
ABOUT THE WINNER: The Ferjančič family from Planina nad Ajdovščino, where they have been engaged in viticulture and winemaking since 1809. On the Vipava hills, where the valley separates from the Karst, the conditions are extreme, but right for the vines. The marly soil, which gives the wines minerality, the Vipava burja, which contributes freshness and the Mediterranean sun, represent the terroir of the Vipava valley. In these conditions, they cannot have much, but it can be good and this is their first principle.
