Chardonnay Prestige Wine 2021
Origin: Slovenia
Vintage: 2021
Sugar: dry
GRAPE VARIETY: Chardonnay
CHARACTERISTICS: golden yellow Chardonnay with a woody character and distinct complexity. The color already reveals the contact with the wood, while the aromas impress with medium intensity and ripeness. The aroma is reminiscent of smoked butter, yellow apples and ripe quinces, which gives the wine depth and sophistication. In the mouth it is dry, full-structured, juicy and mineral, with a nicely rounded body. The finish is long, slightly salty and extremely persistent. A Chardonnay that leaves an impression - perfect for pairing with scallops, wild boar or pork belly.
ABOUT THE WINEMAKER: The vineyards of the Meum wine house are located on the hills above the Žička Carthusian Monastery, which was founded by 12 monks from Grenoble. Founded around 1160, the monastery is one of the oldest in Europe and the first outside of France or Italy. As far as is known, the Carthusian monastery also produced and sold wine, and the Meum family believe that the monks planted two of the most important varieties from France - Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Every year they find more and more evidence that these two varieties are really working in their vineyards. The location of the Meum vineyards is something special. Their terroir is truly unique, which is further demonstrated in the demanding vintages when the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay survive and produce excellent and healthy grapes.
