ABOUT THE WINEMAKER: The vineyards of the Meum wine house are located on the hills above the Žička Carthusian Monastery, which was founded by 12 monks from Grenoble. The monastery was founded around 1160 and is one of the oldest in Europe and the first outside France or Italy. As far as is known, the Carthusian monastery also produced and sold wine, and Meum believes that the monks planted two of the most important varieties from France - Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Every year they discover more and more evidence that these two varieties are really working in their vineyards. The location of the Meum vineyards is something special. Their terroir is truly unique, which is further demonstrated in the demanding vintages when the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay survive and produce excellent and healthy grapes.
