Wine Modri Pinot Prestige
Origin: Slovenia
Vintage: 2020
Sugar: dry
GRAPE VARIETY: Pinot Noir
CHARACTERISTICS: This wine of a delicate ruby red color pampers with a rich aromatic profile, where notes of ripe red fruit, sour cherries, late strawberries, a hint of smoke and subtle shades of forest undergrowth intertwine with slight traces of white pepper. The wine is dry, with a soft structure of tannins - these are still pronounced for a Pinot Noir, but nicely mature, reflecting the age of the vineyard. Medium-full body and mature acidity create a long, harmonious aftertaste. It goes well with dark poultry, mushroom dishes, smoked fish, game or even chocolate.
ABOUT THE WINEMAKER: The Meum wine house vineyards are located on the hills above the Žička Carthusian Monastery, which was founded by 12 monks from Grenoble. Founded around 1160, the monastery is one of the oldest in Europe and the first outside of France or Italy. As far as is known, the Carthusian monastery also produced and sold wine, and the Meum family believe that the monks planted two of the most important varieties from France - Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Every year they find more and more evidence that these two varieties are really working in their vineyards. The location of the Meum vineyards is something special. Their terroir is truly unique, which is further demonstrated in the demanding vintages when the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay survive and produce excellent and healthy grapes.
