Meum Winery Modra Frankinja 2022 Wine
A blue frankinja with a distinct fruity character – freshness that ages beautifully.
Origin: Slovenia
Vintage: 2022
Sugar: dry
GRAPE VARIETY: Modra Frankinja
CHARACTERISTICS: this blue frankinja impresses with a ruby red color, interspersed with delicate purple hues. The aroma of the wine is fresh, varietal and fruity – the juicy notes of sour cherries and blackberries, typical of quality blue frankins, dominate. In the mouth, a lively, slightly higher acidity is expressed, which is perfectly balanced with the fruitiness. The taste of sour cherries comes to the fore and ensures a harmonious, fresh wine with youthful tannins. These will soften nicely with time in the bottle and contribute to the development of the wine over the years. The aftertaste is medium-long, elegant and fruity. The Blue Franconian is an excellent choice for lovers of fresh but structured red wines with the possibility of aging. Serve it with game dishes, roast duck or beef - with meat dishes it develops its full potential.
ABOUT THE WINERY: The vineyards of the Meum wine house are located on the hills above the Carthusian Monastery of Zich, founded by 12 monks from Grenoble. The monastery was founded around 1160 and is one of the oldest in Europe and the first outside of France or Italy. As far as is known, the Carthusian monastery also produced and sold wine, and at Meum they believe that the monks planted two of the most important varieties from France - Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Every year they discover more and more evidence that these two varieties really work in their vineyards. The location of the Meum vineyards is something special. Their terroir is truly unique, which is further demonstrated in demanding vintages, when Pinot Noir and Chardonnay survive and produce excellent and healthy grapes.
