GRAPE VARIETY: Pinot Gris

CHARACTERISTICS: Pinot Gris has an exceptional salmon-pink color. Such a color is not very characteristic, but can be created with the right amount of grape maceration. The smell is a little shy, but varietal. Because of the color, it can remind you of delicate red fruits. The taste is completely dry and juicy, with ripe acids. The aftertaste is longer and calls for the next sip. Excellent Pinot Gris for warmer days.

ABOUT THE WINERY: The vineyards of the Meum wine house are located on the hills above the Žička Carthusian monastery, which was founded by 12 monks from Grenoble. The monastery was founded around 1160 and is one of the oldest in Europe and the first outside of France or Italy. As far as is known, the Carthusian monastery also produced and sold wine, and Meum believes that the monks planted two of the most important varieties from France - Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Every year they discover more and more evidence that these two varieties are really working in their vineyards. The location of the Meum vineyards is something special. Their terroir is truly unique, which is further demonstrated in the demanding vintages when the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay survive and produce excellent and healthy grapes.
