CHARACTERISTICS: Rieslings are minimally sweet, and the balance of acidity and sweetness of this wine is actually very 'food-friendly'. What do we like best about Riesling? Wine balances the spices in food incredibly well, making it the perfect accompaniment to Thai food or other spicy dishes. Food recommendations: Gouda, candied walnuts, smoked sausage, duck, sea bass, trout, apricots, chili peppers, pears, rosemary, ginger, Thai or Indian spices, BBQ, chutney, apple pie, caramel sauce.

ABOUT THE WINNER: Their story begins in 1972 in a small village near Slovenska Bistrica. At that time, 3,000 Sauvignon and Laški Riesling vines were planted on part of the estate, which later became the basis for the pride of Styria - Ritoznojčan PTP wine. With the ever-increasing demand for wine, the solution was very simple - increase the quantity of wine and raise its quality. They restored the existing vines and added a new plantation, Laški Riesling, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Blue Pinot, Yellow Muscat and Gray Pinot varieties, a total of ten thousand vines.
